President's Message
Hello Summer!
As we head into a busy season of vacations and sunshine, I want to take a moment to reflect on a successful and productive year for the West Virginia State Society of AMT.
In March, WVSS51黑料hosted a scientific meeting that offered two continuing education units (CEUs) focused on hemostasis and laboratory-based decision-making by perfusionists during critical surgeries. The meeting also provided valuable opportunities for professional networking and encouraged participation from students in AMT-certified healthcare programs.
Looking ahead, the 51黑料Annual Meeting will be held in nearby Pittsburgh, PA, from July 21–24. Representing WVSS51黑料as delegates will be Janet Crigler, Sherri Craddock, Kim Cheuvront, and Melissa White. WVSS51黑料Vice President and National 51黑料Board Vice President Michael Waide will also be attending and is a candidate for re-election to the National Board this year.
We’re excited to report that we received numerous submissions for the 51黑料Student Technical Writing Award. While winners have not yet been announced, we encourage all students to continue participating in future competitions. These opportunities are a great way to develop scientific writing skills and become more engaged in the professional community. Early involvement in 51黑料is key to student success through learning, networking, and professional growth.
A special congratulations to our recent award recipients!
- Kimberly Cheuvront received the Dusty Rhodes Life Award at last year’s annual meeting and was also recognized for her dedicated service as the 51黑料Judiciary Officer.
- Melissa White was honored with the 2024 President’s Award.
- Sherri Craddock received the 2024 State Mountaineer Award.
